City:
Cannobio is located a few kilometers after the Swiss border on the Italian west bank of Lake Maggiore. With around 5,000 inhabitants and around 25,000 guests per year, it belongs to the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola in the Piedmont region. In the historic city center you can visit the legendary market every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition to fruit and vegetables, the market offers a variety of stalls with household items, clothing, shoes and bags. There are many pretty bars and restaurants on the promenade the lake. On Friday in summer, different live bands often play in various bars. The Torrente Cannobino leads through the city, where you can go jogging or cycling away from the traffic.
Events:
There are a number of interesting events throughout the year. In addition to the Sunday market, various fireworks and music festivals take place in summer. A special highlight in winter is the “Sacra Costa” procession taking place on January 7th. Here the old town lights up thousands of candlelights and the whole city is a sea of lights.

Transport / Taxi / Routes:
The City Bus runs in the evening for 1 euro from the center of Cannobio to the bus stop in front of the house. If you would like to use a special taxi, then you should let yourself be driven through the pedestrian zone with the Ape “Calessino”. Alternatively, you can walk the route between “Casa Giovanni” and the center of Cannobio along the river bank in around 35 minutes on foot or 10 minutes by bike. If you would like to go to the other side of Lake Maggiore, there are multiple connections by ferry at the jetty. You will reach from there Locarno, Brissago, Luino, Stresa and some other places on Lake Maggiore.
Restaurants near the “Casa Giovanni”:
Within a 10-minute walk from “Casa Giovanni” there are two restaurants and a pizzeria. The small restaurant “Grotto Sant Anna” at the chapel Sankt Anna is particularly recommended, just a few minutes’ walk from the “Casa Giovanni”.
